Universal Pixels has reaffirmed its commitment to Leyard Europe's CarbonLight Series, with the company’s CarbonLight mesh LED systems becoming a cornerstone of its touring inventory. The partnership has seen Leyard screens deployed across some of the last two years’ most high-profile productions, including James Blunt, Hozier's US tour, Oasis's European comeback, Lorde at Glastonbury, and performances at London's Alexandra Palace.
The relationship between Universal Pixels and Leyard Europe has grown into a strategic partnership built on reliability, innovation, and shared values. According to James Morden, Technical Specialist at Universal Pixels, the appeal of Leyard's CarbonLight Series lies in its versatility: "It’s really light, it’s transparent, it’s fast to rig, and it’s robust,” he says.
The CarbonLight Series offers Universal Pixels a range of pixel pitches, from CLM10.4 with 10.4mm pixel pitch down to CLO3.9 with 3.9mm pixel pitch, all sharing the same rigging system, making it an exceptionally flexible choice for diverse production requirements. The CLM6.9 with a pixel pitch of 6.9mm has proven particularly valuable for tours requiring transparency for lighting effects, while the CLM5.9 provides a robust indoor-outdoor solution at a 5.9mm pitch.
Recent deployments demonstrate the system's versatility: the CLM5.9 configuration used for Dom Dolla at Alexandra Palace last October comprised 448 tiles covering 224 square metres, while the CLM6.9 was customised for Hozier's US tour to accommodate band members on different height risers. 2026 is set to be another busy year with Kaiser Chiefs in February and Solomun in March 2026 kicking things off.
For Universal Pixels, the choice of Leyard extends beyond technical specifications. Morden emphasises the importance of the long-standing relationship: "Our trust in and relationship with Leyard Europe, and particularly with Luke Marler-Hausen [Director Special Projects | Business Development Rental & Staging], means that whenever we are in the world, we can phone up, ask a question, and get an answer."

The CarbonLight Series addresses the unique challenges of touring production. The modular tile design allows for quick deployment and efficient packing, while servicing is streamlined through complete tile replacement.
The system's maturity as a product line means consistent performance and compatibility across different pixel pitches. "What's amazing is whether it's the 10, 6, 5, or 3 model, all our rigging uses the same pieces. It all fits, so it's a really easy choice for us," Morden adds.
The Universal Pixels team confirms they are in ongoing discussions with Leyard Europe about additional screen purchases to expand their fleet, demonstrating continued confidence in the partnership and the product line's capabilities for the demanding touring market.
